FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Data Security

Q:   By using a web based payroll service I am concerned about the security and confidentiality of my company’s payroll information.  How secure is my payroll data ?

A:  A few years ago many people were hesitant about accessing  their bank account on-line for security reasons. These days most people conduct  banking transactions on-line daily with no second thought.    PRO-PAY WEB uses the SSL (Secured Socket Layer) protocol to transmit information between  the HOST computer and the client.  This is the same technology used for banking transactions.  So the answer is that your payroll transactions are as secure as your bank account on line.

Speed

Q:   The first time I accessed PRO-PAY WEB some pages appeared to load slowly, but after that the speed seems much faster.  Why is that ?

A:  The first time  your computer has to load some image files in memory that are part of the program.  In most cases these files are saved in your computer’s “cache” so the next time you request the same web page the speed should improve dramatically.

Data Entry

Q:   Entering payroll data into a Web based program  feels a little different compared to entering data via a PC based software program.   Why is that ?

A:   Please bear in mind that working with a web program is by nature different than a PC based program. Here are some of differences.

ENTER KEY -  In many PC based programs you may use the ENTER key to navigate from one field to the next.  In Web based program you must always use the TAB key instead.

SAVING DATA - With most PC based programs saving data is automatic.  With most web-based programs you must click on SAVE or some other key before your data is saved.

DATA VALIDATION  -  With most PC based programs the data validation usually takes place instantly.  So if you try to enter invalid data you may see a warning message immediately.   With PRO-PAY WEB in some cases you will be warned immediately but in other cases you may see a warning message after you press the SAVE button.

Overall, data entry via the web is probably a little slower that regular PC.  However, the benefits of accessing information  from anywhere at any time,  most likely will outweigh these differences.
